We were honored to have the opportunity to support reading and education at two health focused facilities in Accra, Ghana in December 2019
Greater Accra Regional/ Ridge Hospital
The donations of books and art supplies were greatly appreciated by staff and parents and as you can see, the children truly enjoyed as well.
Board member Stephane Asare- Boateng also joined us and led an engaging story time.
Autism Awareness Care and Training Centre
At the onset of 2020 we at Healing Words Foundation began executing our new goal of expanding our services from hospitals to all health focused facilities. We visited and donated reading and sensory focused educational materials to the Autism Awareness Care and Training Center in Accra, Ghana.
Started over 20 years ago by Mrs Serwaa Quaynor, a former New York based nurse practitioner, the AACT works to provide basic life skills and job training to young persons with autism in Ghana. They also host training sessions for health care professionals and those interested in learning how to best help persons on the autism spectrum.
As we move forward into the new decade we are looking for new opportunities across Africa and within other Continents. If you know of a health care facility which would benefit from reading materials please contact us at info@readingandhealing.org
